Hear from workshop leaders and attendees about what was learned at the ARDC HASS and Indigenous Research Data Commons Summer School 2025, held in Brisbane/Meanjin from 4-6 February 2025.

Join us for an online webinar where attendees and presenters reflect on the HASS and Indigenous Summer School 2025. This session is for people curious about attending Summer School in the future, as well as this year’s participants.

The Summer School aims to empower participants with practical knowledge, build digital skills, and help inspire new research outcomes within the humanities, arts, social sciences, and Indigenous fields of study. Over 3 days, participants were involved in interactive workshops, discussions, mentoring, networking and formal presentations.

Discover:

  • what people learned in formal workshops about Indigenous Data Governance, organising data, computational methods for obtaining data and using R with administrative data for social sciences
  • attendees’ Aha! moments
  • why we came up with dozens of potential research article titles
  • what was discussed in sessions where participants chose the topic on the day
  • how people have used what they learned already
  • ways people would like to keep in touch

  • Summer School attendees
  • People considering attending Summer School in 2026
  • Researchers, including, higher degree researchers (HDRs) and early to mid- career researchers (EMCRs), in humanities, arts, social sciences and Indigenous research areas
  • Data custodians working with Indigenous data from:
    • the private sector, including not-for-profits.
    • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and organisations
    • universities and research organisations
    • the galleries, libraries, archives and museums (GLAM) sector
    • all levels of government
